New Self-Service Wine Bar to Open in Downtown Cincinnati

Something to Wine About will feature self-pour wine machines, along with a full-service bar and cold finger foods.

A new self-service wine bar in downtown Cincinnati is getting ready to open to the public.

Something to Wine About, located in a nearly 3,600-square-foot space in 3CDC’s 4th & Race development, will host its grand opening on Saturday, Dec. 7. The bar is owned by Orlando “Lando” Chapman Sr., founder of RilEntertainment and best known for his Old School Happy Hour event, and features self-pour wine machines along with a full-service bar.

To use the self-pour machines, patrons can buy a reloadable card when they arrive and then swipe the card at the machine. Along with drinks, Something to Wine About will also offer cold finger foods, like charcuterie and pinwheel sandwiches.

Chapman says he also wants to use his platform at Something to Wine About to highlight African American and other minority-owned winemakers. Right now, 300 bottles of Eric the Red Wine, made by former Cincinnati Reds outfielder Eric Davis, are available for presale here. On Dec. 7, the wine bar will host a special event from 3-6 p.m. where patrons can meet Davis and have their bottles signed.

“Having the ability to highlight Black wine and spirit makers, as well as other minorities, in my space is such a privilege,” Chapman said in a press release. “I can’t wait to see people here, experiencing old-school music while they relax and sip wines they may not find elsewhere.”

The wine bar will also host regular events, including a book club and live performances by national recording artists, up-and-coming jazz musicians and old-school R&B musicians. The monthly Wine-O memberships will also offer access to exclusive events, in-label wines, merchandise discounts and more.

If you register for a Wine-O membership this week, you can attend Something to Wine About’s soft opening on Friday, Nov. 29, which starts at 7 p.m. and includes a sneak peek at the wine bar, as well as music, light bites and more.

“Lando has a proven track record in connecting with and entertaining the 30-and-over crowd in downtown Cincinnati and Something to Wine About will expand his platform for doing so,” Lindzie Gunnels, commercial leasing director with 3CDC, said in the release.

“With Love on Fourth, Baru, Tokyo Kitty and more just down the street, this is a fantastic location in the Fountain District for a self-service wine bar. Patrons will have multiple options for dinner, drinks and dancing, all within walking distance of one another.”

Something to Wine About’s grand opening will take place Saturday, Dec. 7 starting at 7 p.m. You can make reservations here. After the grand opening, the wine bar will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
