CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A well-known event promoter is turning the tables and is now promoting his own wine bar in Downtown Cincinnati that will open later this year.

Orlando “Lando” Chapman Sr. has been hosting events and working with local businesses for the past 30 years. On Friday, he announced the groundbreaking for his new business, “Something to Wine About,” a self-serve wine bar.

“I’ve hosted numerous events downtown, and it’s hard to find a good-sized space with ample parking to accommodate this type of concept,” said Chapman. “But this space has both. The vibe will be like Downtown Manhattan meets South Beach.

Something to Wine About is located on 4th and Race Streets and will feature self-pour wine machines, a full-service bar and finger foods, such as charcuterie.

Chapman says he also plans to highlight African American and other minority-owned winemakers. These wines will be highlighted under the menu, “The Darker the Berry, the Sweeter the Juice.”

Stepping into the bar, customers will be instantly greeted with the sounds of jazz and old-school R&B musicians, surrounded by a laid-back, yet upscale atmosphere.

“Something to Wine About will add vibrancy and activity to the southwest corner of downtown and is also a win for the minority winemakers and musicians that will be promoted in the space. Lando has a 30-year history as a successful promoter and has become widely known as a springboard for talent and helping business owners increase their footprint,” said 3CDC’s Lindzie Gunnels, Director of Commercial Leasing.

Champman’s wine bar sits next to LoVe Nightclub and Paris Baguette.
